Fresh from Konami, here are some screenshots for Zombie Apocalypse, the latest in a recent rash of undead-related games. In Apocalypse, up to four players can take on waves of shambling braineaters (they really hate it when you call them that, by the way). The goal: “to survive 55 days of battles across seven environments.” Survive and unlock seven additional challenge modes.
I like twin-stick shooters as much as the next guy, and had a ton of fun blasting zombies in Left 4 Dead, but with zombie modes in the most recent Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto games, and a sequel to Dead Rising on the horizon, it’s time to ask how many zombie games is too many zombie games? Konami will no doubt find out when the downloadable Zombie Apocalypse hits Xbox LIVE Arcade and the Playstation Network sometime in Q2.
Looking at the screen shots, their biggest problem might be avoiding complaints that they’re borrowing a bit too much from Left 4 Dead. See what I mean (and read the full press release) after the break.
“Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. today revealed new screenshots from the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse for Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®Network. Armed with weapons including assault rifles, flame throwers and a teddy bear filled with C4 explosives, Zombie Apocalypse throws gamers on a mission to obliterate as many zombies as they can in order to defend the human race.In this action-packed battle, gamers will test their dual analog stick shooting skills in an epic fight against the undead. The ultimate goal is to survive 55 days of battles across seven environments. When the mission is complete and the threat of a zombie epidemic is over, players can re-live the apocalypse with seven additional challenging game modes that become unlocked.
In Zombie Apocalypse, players can use an array of up to 11 lethal weapons to stop the zombie attacks and rescues survivors. To add to the intense action and constant chaos throughout the game, environmental hazards are put in place to crush, burn, slice and annihilate packs of zombies all at once. The arcade style shooter also allows up to four players at a time to play locally or via the Internet as they as they compete for the highest scores.”

I feel like I've seen these characters somewhere before... except for maybe that nerd guy
