The big news around the virtual water cooler today is the announcement that Sam Raimi, he of Spider-Man, Evil Dead and, of course, Cleopatra 2525, is set to direct the live-action, big-screen treatment of World of Warcraft.
As someone who has managed to avoid the narcotic e,brace of the game, I’ll leave it to better authorities (i.e., Adam) to speculate if there’s any cinematic gold here worth mining.
Anyone excited about this or will Raimi’s vision be impossible to live up to the elf-princess-saving splendor that exists among your comrades?

Honestly, I have no idea. I’m gobsmacked by this one. There’s a lot of lore, a lot of back story and a lot of decent material one could mine for cinematic content… but it’s also not hard to imagine it as a third-rate Lord Of The Rings.
The nerd in me WANTS it to be epic, but… I’m cynical.
And Cleopatra 2525 was awesome. Well, Jennifer Sky was. I don’t really remember the show beyond staring at her a lot. Haha.
My brain has exploded from the top of my head. I’m just… i don’t… I mean… I… Er….
Wow.
Just wow.
Nice coup.
Now we start taking bets on whether or not it ever enters production, what with Spider-man 4 taking an eternity and all that.
