Metal and Rock Band. It’s a combination much akin to Chocolate and Peanut Butter, or Nascar and Beer, or Canada and Communisim…
Fans rejoice, as The latest Rock Band track pack, the METAL pack, drops on (R)Oc(k)tober 13th. The same day as another certain metal-centric title that just finished whooping Activision’s ass. Kicking corporate butt is TRU-METAL!
Tracklisting is after the break – but pardon me if i flip out a little at the fact that I Mother Earth‘s seminal anthem, ‘Levitate’ is included as an exclusive track! Precursor to greater things, every elitist alterna-metal fan with a eye to the Great White North will tell you that I Mother Earth’s first album, Dig was a metal classic, and their sophmore effort, Scenery and Fish, is one of the finest Canadian rock albums of all time.
So… Harmonix… how about some Tea Party? Tragically Hip? Sam Roberts? Matt Mays??
See the list after the break… And watch the video…

I’m a little disappointed in the “metal” content here. I like the inclusion of “Hair of the Dog”, “3′s and 7′s”, and “Bulls on Parade”, but wouldn’t a grand majority of the rest be considered metal or the so-called ( and may I add a shudder here) “Nu-Metal”? Ugh.
When I hear metal I think of mullets, the 80′s, and rockin’ out with your cock out! Where’s some more megadeth? metallica? Pantera even?!?!
Disappointment ensues, I guess I’ll go cut myself and listen to some Emo music.
Well, Bullet for my Valentine covered the angry-sad 80s faux-rock ballad “No Easy Way Out” from Rocky IV (plays after a certain character is killed off), if you have to cut yourself, that would probably be the soundtrack.
