Announced at BlizzCon 2009, the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion pack is revealed to be World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, confirming numerous rumors swirling around the internet, revealed now as entirely true. In terms of in-game shake-ups, this is as big as things get in the world of MMORPG, with the return of an ancient and long-buried evil literally tearing the world a new hole, literally. The whole Cataclysm thing is an accurate title, as Blizzard will use this opportunity to go back and re-design the entire shape of Azeroth, modifying, removing and sundering entire continents and zones.
A breakdown of the new additions after the jump.
Blizzard has released its first (of which I am sure are many) trailers for the upcoming expansion, which can be viewed here.
There is no release date yet, but the smart money is looking for a Christmas 2010 release date. After all, there’s still plenty of upcoming content in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King that needs exploring, like the return of an old raid boss and the matter of that pesky Lich King.
