God of War 3 Demo Has Anger Management Problems

gow3

I recently played through the first taste of Sony’s forthcoming, highly-anticipated Olympian brawler.  Like anyone else who’s sucked up the joy of dismembering mythological creatures in the previous God of War installments, I’ve been jacked for this third, next-gen tale of Kratos and his seemingly unquenchable desire to impale bystanders.

So what would the demo hold?  Is this merely a high-def enhanced version of the formula or has Sony cooked up something totally new for the big PS3 debut?

Gunbird 2 Coming to the PSP, Brain-Humping Lunacy in Tow

Via Kotaku, news comes out that PM Studios is bringing Gunbird 2 to the PSP.  Now there hasn’t been much on Sony’s portable that I’ve found compelling enough to shell out the sheckels for, but this, my friends, makes it tempting.

Gunbird 2 is, essentially, the most bat-&#$%  insane shooter ever forged.  I became engrossed with it when it came to the Dreamcast and everyone I’ve forced to try it has also fallen under its spell.  It takes like nine minutes to complete, but features some of the most incoherent (read: awesome) storylines ever.  Pro-tip: match chibby flying-carpet straddler Hei Cob with anyone and strap in for an endless march of fat jokes.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 43: Avatar and Feathered

The Pixel Verdict boys talk a lot about a few games this week. Steve weighs in on the video game version of James Cameron’s Avatar. Does he really say it’s better than Modern Warfare 2? You’ll have to listen to find out. Meanwhile, it’s all Dragon Age: Origins all the time for a roguish Adam, while Erich dives back into Gears of War 2 and gets his Zelda on with Spirit Tracks, plus a digression about the financial dangers of online shopping during the holidays. This week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum sinks to new levels of depravity. If you have any complaints, send them to Dave. He chose the topic.

Lodge those complaints in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing us at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

Pictosium ad Nauseum: Where are the Genitals?

mpc

You know where some characters stand as far as gender.  But let’s be honest: there are more than a few virtual creations that are complete mysteries and not because they’re some androgynous Final Fantasy character.  There just ain’t nothing there to work with.

Which of course brings up the question: how do these hapless folks reproduce?  And if you happen to pilot one of them off a cliff or something is that is for the species?

Review: Bayonetta (PS3) – Import

Bayonetta07

Note:  The following review is based on an imported copy of the Japanese release.  Bayonetta is scheduled for release in North America on January 5th, 2010.

Opening Statement:
I’ll admit, for the last year or so, I haven’t been the most eager to play Sega’s upcoming Bayonetta, a prophesized action epic from Platinum Games (the crazed geniuses behind last year’s Mad World for the Wii) and director Hideki Kamiya (the future legend behind Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe and Okami; pay your respects at the altar).  As I just typed the evidence of its pedigree, I realize that my bull headed and blind prejudice has denied me any sense of excitement for what has turned out to be a concentrated burst of gaming dynamite.  With Bayonetta, Kamiya and Platinum Games have served up a witch’s brew of devilish fun. BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 42: Bloodsnobs and Broomsticks

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

In this week’s episode, Erich, Jon, and a distant-sounding Dave talk about games they’ve played, games they want to play, and games no one’s actually played yet. After a lengthy Bayonetta discussion, chat turns to other forthcoming titles including Darksiders and Dead Space 2. In other news, Dave rents Band Hero, Erich is stuck on Mario, and Jon refuses to acknowledge alternate pronunciations for “guillotine.” This week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum: who do you want in your foxhole (besides Angela Lansbury, of course)?
