NEW RELEASES – April 2010

April comes in like a fercious wet box of kittens with a pretty timid little “mew”. Not much on the slate, but what’s there is of solid stuff!

04/13

- Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City(PC, PS3)

- Splinter Cell: Conviction (Xbox360, PC)

04/20

- Monster Hunter Tri (Wii)

- Sherlock Holmes vs. Jack the Ripper (Xbox360)

04/27

- Dead to Rights: Retribution (multi)

- Super Street Fighter IV (multi)

- Nier (multi)

- Fifa World Cup 2010 South Africa(multi)

- Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake (PSP)

- Record of Agarest War (Xbox360)

After seeing Sam Fisher get his kill on to the strains of “God’s Gonna Cut You Down”, i’m so sold on Splinter Cell: Conviction. I’ll also be doing some monster hunting, and Street Fighter is a must. What are the rest of you asking the Easter Bunny for? Outside of Creme Eggs?

Review: Mega Man 10 (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, WiiWare)

MM10-01

The Charge:
Dual FX Engines!!  Parallel Hyperbit Interface!!
Opening Statement:
My lifelong affair with Capcom’s stalwart ‘Mega Man’ franchise is by no means a well kept secret.  I’d go as far as to say it occupies the throne that is my favourite gaming franchise.  Since the heady times of its heyday, there have been close to 120 titles released that bear the ‘Mega Man’ moniker, more than both the Street Fighter and Resident Evil franchises combined; and during my career in gaming, I’ve owned close to 40 of them personally.  That can mean only one thing, I’m totally the perfect candidate to review “Mega Man 10”, Capcom’s latest return to the series that built the foundations of their house.

Rock of the Dead = best idea EVER

Oh sweet Zombie Jesus. Rock of the Dead, a new game being developed by Epicenter looks like a glorious mash-up between Typing of the Dead, the beloved Dreamcast typing/zombie shooter and Rock Band. Throw Neil Patrick Harris into the mix and it’s a perfect game already. No, I don’t even need to play it. In my head, right now, it is perfect. *sniff*

Review: Tatsunoku vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (Wii)

tvc02

The Charge:
The Versus series returns in an all-new brawl!

Opening Statement:
Never let it be said that gaming dreams don’t come true.  Despite riding high on a wave of pure hype, I would have never guessed that Tatsunoku vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, the legendary developer’s return to their arcade smash-hit Versus franchise would ever see the light of day on western shores.  Continue reading Review: Tatsunoku vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars (Wii)

Review: New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Wii…duh)

Mario01

Opening Statement:
Like any gamer worth his salt (or born before the rise of New Kids on the Block, take your pick), I have a bit of a history with Super Mario.  Having cut my gaming teeth on the plumber’s first three adventures, and his 16-bit debut being the first game I ever cracked wide open, dedicating myself to discovering its every secret.  Continue reading Review: New Super Mario Bros. Review: Muramasa – The Demon Blade (Wii)

Mura01

Lyrics, fill in the gap -- Drop that bass and get the Ninja Rap!

The Charge:
Slice like a ninja – Cut like a razor blade!

Opening Statement:
Okay, every red-blooded kid who lived and breathed during the 1980s knows that ninjas are concentrated awesome.  And I don`t mean that watered down, sugar-rush Naruto crap.  I`m talking straight up, sword swingin’, star flingin’ shinobi bad-ass.  Hell, even Michael Dudikoff had a cup of coffee with fame and fortune because he made a few movies concerning ninjas, and he was a total douche (my apologies to any hardcore Dudikoffers out there).  I’ll usually try any video game that features Ninjas in a prominent role (usually to my regret), which led me to this day’s review.  Continue reading Review: Muramasa – The Demon Blade (Wii)
