BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 71: The Ultimate Dragon Warrior Quest… or something!

July 22nd, 2010

After a week off for Summer Vacation, Steve, Jon, and Adam return, with speak of obscure WWE wrestlers from the 1990’s. Adam shares thoughts on Dragon Quest (Warrior!) IX, Jon is a generation behind with Dragon Quest (Warrior!) VIII and Steve finally puts Mass Effect 2 to bed.

After that we celebrate the banner year that was 2010 thus far by picking our favorite games of the first half of the year, which game we are most looking forward to in the second half, and which awesome game none of you ungrateful bastards bothered to play whilst you were busy with Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Red Dead Redemption.

What was your favorite game of the first half of 2010? What are you anxiously awaiting for the rest of the year? What obscure gem do you think we should all be playing to while away the slow Summer months instead of going outside? Why not Let us know in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 70: Welcome to Earth!

July 8th, 2010

In a world where your life is no longer your own…

Steve, Jon, Adam, and Erich, our Token American(patent pending) invite you to partake of our spirited discussion on the timely topic of internet privacy as it relates to Blizzards World of Warcraft and Starcraft II Internet Forums. Is it really that big of a thing that they’re making people use their real names?
But first, You must wander through the usual mire and muck of what we’ve been playing, what we’ve been buying but not playing, why Blast Processing has a restraining order against Mrs. Adam, what Erich thinks of OnLive and Alan Wake, Jon’s opinion of The Mega Man Zero Collection, and what awesome item Erich purchased last weekend! Hint: It is awesome!
We also celebrate the one and only holiday that’s all about Presidents who fly fighter planes and punching Aliens right in their stupid faces by waxing nostalgic about some of the great (and awful) games from Arcades past that have yet to appear in some form of home collection. There are also the usual offensive bits about female WoW players and Mac Gamers.

How do you feel about Blizzard’s new stance on anonymity? Did you read Jon’s Sin and Punishment review? Are you mad at Steve for his insensitive comments about women who play WoW? Why not let us know over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

Opening Music: Celestial Hi-Fi by Sheavy
Closing Music: Into Town by Matt Uelman from “Diablo” by Blizzard Entertainment

REVIEW: Sin and Punishment – Star Successor (Wii)

July 7th, 2010

The Charge:
The hair-trigger shooter game for the Wii is here!
Opening Statement:
Western gamers can be forgiven for scratching their heads and furrowing their brows when people bring up the original Sin and Punishment.  A cult hit in the making, it made a slight blip on the radar in the dying days of the Nintendo 64, but languished in its native Japan, robbing western N64 owners of the chance to boast more great games on that system than can be counted on one hand.  A decade has passed since Sin and Punishment was one of the most sought after import titles in all of gaming, and thanks to the title’s success on the Wii’s Virtual Console; Nintendo and Treasure have brought the sequel, Sin and Punishment: Star Successor across the vastness of the earth and into the twitching fingers of starving action gamers across North America.  Once again, Treasure’s rule against developing sequels has been broken.  The question is though, is it going to be worth it this time?

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 69: Time travelling Transformers and Communist Aliens.

July 1st, 2010

Steve and Jon are left to their own devices this week – may God have mercy on your souls.

Steve really likes Singularity, which allows you to crank back time on a top secret island where the Red army conducted all kinds of spooky experiments. Jon is digging on Sin & Punishment: Star Successor, which is full of bizarre kids who may or may not be aliens, robots, or amnesiacs.

Both then share their thoughts on Transformers: War for Cybertron, before the rest of our show is devoted to the sobering past of Transformers videogames, and Steve again trashes major review sites.

What was Jon’s favorite Transformer? What exciting features await you in Transfomrers: Beast Wars: Transmetals for N64? How many Jetfires did Steve own? How many good games actually existed on the Nintendo 64? All this and more awaits you just beyond.

If only we could crank back time on this episode…

Did you dig the new Transformers game? Are you a dirty Commie like Steve? Let us know in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 68: E3 2010 – The last gasp and post-mortem!

June 24th, 2010

The more things change… the more they stay the same… Steve has been handed the keys to the Pixelverdict family station wagon, and wastes no time in joining Dave and Jon in delivering an E3 2010 post mortem, and a discussion of vintage 80’s sneakers with lights in the heels. We all like Vanquish, we all dig on Dead Space 2, Dave is curious about Metal Gear: Rising, And Steve has high hopes for Bullet Storm.  We can’t tell you what we didn’t like, we need to save something for the audio portion of our show after all…

What were our choice picks for this years biggest game convention? What came out of nowhere to suprise? What tore our still beating hearts out of our collective ribcages and took a big bite before chucking the bloated vascular muscles into the wastebasket? Listen and learn my friends.

What was YOUR game of the show? What announcements made you weep openly with joy, or pain? Let us know in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 67: E3 2010 Part Two (Nintendo & Sony)

June 17th, 2010

Adam, Steve, and Erich wrap up Pixel Verdict’s E3 2010 coverage by tackling Nintendo and Sony’s press conferences. The Big N comes on strong with entries in classic game franchises from Metroid to Donkey Kong, Kirby to Zelda, Mario to (gasp) Kid Icarus!? Plus, they reveal the glasses-free 3D successor to their DS handheld juggernaut—and it’s awesome. Meanwhile, Sony pushes their own (more expensive) brand of 3D, reveals the launch line up for the PlayStation Move motion controller, and goes for the game trailer montage record. To hear this podcast in 3D, just cross your eyes for the next hour and twenty minutes.
