BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 74: The Getting Old ‘Cast

While Steve is on vacation, Erich breaks into the studio to record a podcast filled with rants and ramblings about not having time to play games and other side effects of getting old. He is joined by fellow old-timers Adam and Tim, who manage to calm gramps down long enough to talk about Halo Wars, Resident Evil 5, Alan Wake, and the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion.

Have your own list of games you own but haven’t played yet? Share it in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 70: Welcome to Earth!

In a world where your life is no longer your own…

Steve, Jon, Adam, and Erich, our Token American(patent pending) invite you to partake of our spirited discussion on the timely topic of internet privacy as it relates to Blizzards World of Warcraft and Starcraft II Internet Forums. Is it really that big of a thing that they’re making people use their real names?
But first, You must wander through the usual mire and muck of what we’ve been playing, what we’ve been buying but not playing, why Blast Processing has a restraining order against Mrs. Adam, what Erich thinks of OnLive and Alan Wake, Jon’s opinion of The Mega Man Zero Collection, and what awesome item Erich purchased last weekend! Hint: It is awesome!
We also celebrate the one and only holiday that’s all about Presidents who fly fighter planes and punching Aliens right in their stupid faces by waxing nostalgic about some of the great (and awful) games from Arcades past that have yet to appear in some form of home collection. There are also the usual offensive bits about female WoW players and Mac Gamers.

How do you feel about Blizzard’s new stance on anonymity? Did you read Jon’s Sin and Punishment review? Are you mad at Steve for his insensitive comments about women who play WoW? Why not let us know over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

REVIEW: Alan Wake (xbox360)

The Charge:
In darkness, fight with light.

Opening Statement:
It’s been near a full 7 years since Max Payne last graced us with his presence in 2003. Remedy have finally returned, bringing with them a new protagonist in Alan Wake. Trading rain soaked New York streets for fog enshrouded pines, and two-fisting colt 45’s for heavy duty Maglites and road flares, does Wake live up to Payne’s pedigree?

Facts of the Case:
Alan Wake is a writer. He’s had several hit novels, and is generally a well regarded Stephen King-like figure. Unfortunately Alan is suffering from some severe writer’s block, and his public image is less than perfect. Alice, Alan’s wife, takes him to the sleepy little Midwestern town of Bright Falls, her plan is to get Alan’s creative synapses firing again. Unfortunately for Alan, Alice has disappeared, he’s missing a week, there’s an FBI agent in hot pursuit, and he’s awakened behind the wheel of their crashed vehicle with one hell of a nasty bump on his noggin. On top of that, he’s finding pages from a manuscript he supposedly wrote, and the weirdness on the page has a way of bleeding into reality. It only gets stranger from there.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 60: Encyclopedia Dave and the Case of the Off-Topic Podcast

Without a third person to keep them on track, Dave and Erich cover topics as varied as Splinter Cell: Conviction and Little House on the Prairie; Alan Wake and Encyclopedia Brown; and Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection and whittling. Add in a dash of Super Street Fighter IV, Saved by the Bell, and Streets of Rage and you’ve got a contender for either the best or worst podcast we’ve ever done. Listen and decide for yourself.

If you have a favorite Encyclopedia Brown case, or just want to complain, let us know in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 58: Funny Aprons

Dave and Tim join Erich for tales of video game woe and wonder. Thrill to the story of broken PS3s and tough decisions, gawk at tepid responses to an eagerly anticipated sequel, and yawn at a yarn packed with downloadable deals and casual gaming. All this with a look forward to some big titles on the horizon and a business venture that might be very lucrative, indeed.

blast_processing14

Erich, Dave, and Adam unpack all of the excitement, disappointment, big (and not-so-big) reveals, guest stars, and sci-fi future tech of Microsoft’s E3 2009 press conference. Will Project Natal redefine gaming, or fall flat on its motion-sensing face? What does Hideo Kojima unveiling Metal Gear Solid Rising at a Microsoft conference mean for fanboy flame wars? And do we really care about Facebook on the Xbox 360? All this, and last-minute speculation about the Sony and Nintendo press conferences.
