BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 23: Life Is But A Dream

clouds_bp

The Newfoundland dream team Steve and Jon join Erich for almost exactly an hour of video game tomfoolery. First up, a couple of fighting games that aren’t Street Fighter IV and PC games that aren’t World of Warcraft. Erich partly recants last week’s tirade against The Beatles: Rock Band track list, which leads into a discussion about the future of music games. Steve runs down the news, including more games pushed to 2010, Marvel super heroes invade LittleBigPlanet, and no more Halo after Reach…or is there? This week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum asks disturbing questions like, “Is Link a practicing cannibal?” and “Are we all just figments of Steve Power’s imagination?” Listen if you dare.

Round 1! FIGHT!

The Charge:
2D High-Resolution Fighting Brilliance

Opening Statement:
2009 has thus far been a great year for fighters, and that isn’t looking too likely to change anytime soon. Sandwiched between the sheer awesomeness of Street Fighter 4 and the soon to be unleashed King of Fighters XII sits Blazblue: Calamity Trigger, the latest offering from Arc system Works, the madmen behind the Guilty Gear series. In a year this stacked, can it stand with its peers?

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 20: Super Trivia Fighter

This week’s podcast is the Newfoundlandiest yet, as Steve and Jon join Erich for a three-man discussion of all things old and new in video games. In Now Playing, Steve talks BlazBlue and Crimson Gem Saga, Jon dips back into Okami and pays tribute to the late Mr. Jackson with Moonwalker, and Erich wonders how best to spend 400 Microsoft points: N+ or Kodu? One lengthy game-creation discussion later, Steve runs down the week’s big news stories, including the demise of Eidos, Blizzard nixing LAN support in Starcraft II, and Best Buy’s new PS3 bundle. The group wraps things up with an awesome idea for a new video game, and this week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum: Cartoons Based on Video Games (complete with clips of cheesy ’80s theme songs!). Thanks to JK47 for suggesting the topic.
