BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 53: A Bit of a Tease

bp-53

Erich, Tim, and Dave roll up the red carpet with a round of “Oscar Best Picture nominee video game tie-ins”—a bad idea that gets progressively worse. Things get better once talk turns to video games, as Dave embraces fight stick ownership, Tim earns his merit badge, and Erich decides on an unlikely first game purchase for 2010. Games discussed this episode include Street Fighter IV, Modern Warfare 2, Borderlands, Gears of War 2, Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, and Mega Man 10.

Now it’s your turn to tease us, by commenting below, heading over to the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing us at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 52: Direct-to-DVD Sequel

bp_52

Erich, Steve, and Jon are knee-deep in recent releases this week. Heavy Rain gets a torrential downpour of love from Steve, as does Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Modern Warfare 2 fans may not want to listen to this part); Jon comes to terms with his disappointment in Bioshock 2, then he and Erich go old school with first impressions of the NES-tastic Mega Man 10; and it wouldn’t be an episode of this podcast if Erich didn’t whine about the combat in Mass Effect. Also discussed this week: Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Risen, the global PS3 meltdown, Nintendo’s recent media summit, upcoming releases, and the DSi XL.

What have you been playing? Let us know in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing us at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 46: Rock ‘n’ Roll High School

Jon and Steve join Erich for a gamestravaganza of epic-ish proportions! There is praise-singing for Darksiders and Bayonetta, admiration for Army of Two: the 40th Day, and iPhone game recommendations by Steve (yes… Steve). In other news, Jon digs into Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Erich can’t stop talking about Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection (though he does so long enough to give his long overdue impressions of Batman: Arkham Asylum), and Steve talks about going to the coolest high school ever. Keeping with the awkward teen theme, the crew wraps things up with this week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum: the ideal video game prom date.

You can share your high school memories in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing us at feedback@pixelverdict.com.

Best Games of the Year 2009: Erich’s List

pv09

As Dave explained in his kickoff post, ’tis the season for “best of” lists, and who are we to buck tradition?

Just to warn you, my list isn’t going to look like the rest of the lists you’ll see on this site over the next few days. Compare my picks with Dave’s and you’ll see what I mean. That’s because I don’t own all three consoles, or play a lot of new games. In these harsh economic times, can you blame me? Somehow, though, I managed to play a few—mostly on Nintendo systems. Go figure. Click through for the best of what 2009 had to offer the Asperschlager household.

BLAST PROCESSING! Episode 43: Avatar and Feathered

avatar_mw_bp

The Pixel Verdict boys talk a lot about a few games this week. Steve weighs in on the video game version of James Cameron’s Avatar. Does he really say it’s better than Modern Warfare 2? You’ll have to listen to find out. Meanwhile, it’s all Dragon Age: Origins all the time for a roguish Adam, while Erich dives back into Gears of War 2 and gets his Zelda on with Spirit Tracks, plus a digression about the financial dangers of online shopping during the holidays. This week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum sinks to new levels of depravity. If you have any complaints, send them to Dave. He chose the topic.

Lodge those complaints in the comments below, over in the DVD Verdict Jury Room forums, or by emailing us at feedback@pixelverdict.com.
