The Charge:
Defining Online Warfare!
Opening Statement:
The world of Military shooters has always been a tumultuous one. Excursions into World War II have always butted heads with the latest and greatest techno shooters and Tom Clancy terror thrillers. Somewhere along the timeline, the mainstream WWII shooter converged with the modern man of action, and one franchise rose above the ranks to seize the crown. Hardly content to take their ‘distant second’ ribbon and wallow in complacency, EA and Dice have fired the opening salvo in the quickly building war against Modern Warfare 2.

Dave and Tim join Erich for tales of video game woe and wonder. Thrill to the story of broken PS3s and tough decisions, gawk at tepid responses to an eagerly anticipated sequel, and yawn at a yarn packed with downloadable deals and casual gaming. All this with a look forward to some big titles on the horizon and a business venture that might be very lucrative, indeed.

The Charge:
Your Smallest Decisions Can Change Everything.
Opening Statement:
The latest from French Developer Quantic Dream (Indigo Prophecy) has been hyped and heralded as a boon to the PS3’s growing library of top-drawer exclusives since it was first announced way back in 2006. Does this latest experiment in cinematic gameplay deliver an experience worthy of two thumbs up?
Facts of the Case:
In a terrorized city, the hunt for a missing child will lead four disparate people to ask the question: How far would you go to stop a killer? Heavy Rain puts you in the shoes of each of the four characters as they piece together clues and attempt to track down the latest target of The Origami Killer, a ruthless serial killer who abducts young boys and drowns them in rainwater, before he becomes another casualty.
And they say that a hee-roh will save us!
The Charge:
Save what’s left…or destroy it all!
Opening Statement:
The majority of truly great super hero stories begin with a tragedy, be it Superman’s home planet being destroyed, Batman witnessing the murder of his parents as a child, or Spider-Man failing to save his uncle due to his own teenaged arrogance. This is meant to symbolize the earning of their powers, or the emotional anchor that will keep them from growing corrupt. To keep them steadfast in the face of the sea of anarchy they will surely face in their quest to make the world a better place. Sucker Punch, one of Sony’s top three prized development studios seek to test those very waters with InFamous; a sandbox title that grants players an incredible array of super-powers, and the choice to do good or do evil by those very abilities. But is this long-awaited PS3 exclusive a mighty champion of the people, or does it fizzle out faster that the Joel Schumacher Batman movies?
Call me "Scarface" ONE MORE TIME!
The Charge:
Act like a Mobster, think like a Don.
Opening Statement:
The sequel to EA’s popular open world title from generation’s past is upon us, coming from out of nowhere, with little hype compared to its predecessor. The question is; Will The Godfather II make you an offer you can’t refuse? Or does it sleep with the fishes.
Facts of the Case:
The Godfather II loosely follows the plot of the film in the same way the first game was built on a skeleton of the first film. You take the role of a minor Mafia captain, serving under the main character from the first game. A trip to Cuba leaves your boss dead, and Michael Corleone (NOT played nor looking anything like Al Pacino) tasking you with picking up the pieces and taking control of New York. This eventually leads you into Miami, and then, back to Cuba. Along the way you’ll encounter a throng of characters (both original and from the films), take over a ton of businesses, fight rival families, and build a criminal empire.

It’s Canada 3, America 1 as Erich welcomes Adam, Jon, and Steve to talk games and correct his meager knowledge of Canadian geography. They talk Demon’s Souls, Sly Cooper 2, Hammerin’ Hero, Legends of Wrestlemania, Suikoden Tierkreis, Resident Evil 4, and Tetris DS. In news, Jon’s excitement about an early release for PS3-exclusive inFamous turns into a debate about the marketing wisdom of using demos as pre-order bonuses, Steve joins the throngs of Xbox 360 owners rejoicing over Microsoft adding the E74 error to its 3-year warranty, and Adam uses his +4 charm to get everyone to care about the new World of Warcraft patch. After minor technical difficulties, the boys wrap things up with this week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum, asking deep questions about why the gaming cliches that bug us the most are often those we hold most dear.

Erich’s out sick this week, leaving Dave in charge of unruly crew Tim, Adam, and Steve, who join him for some good-natured Wii bashing before spoiling Braid, musing on the possible game-changing OnLive, and launching into an epic roundtable discussion of this week’s Symposium Ad Nauseum topic: Objectively Crappy Games That You Love. Titles discussed include Time Killers, Weaponlord, Shaq-Fu, Two Worlds, and Batman for the Commodore 64. Send any and all comments, complaints, and fanboy ravings to feedback@pixelverdict.com.
