Metal Gear Solid Touch Will Soon Cost Less Than a Cardboard Box

mgst

Taking a cue, perhaps, from PopCap who saw sales soar after temporarily lowering the price of Peggle on the iPhone App Store, Konami will be dropping Metal Gear Solid Touch to $2.99 for three days, from August 13 to 15. When the mobile adaptation of the stealth game hit the iPhone back in March, it met with a tepid response from gamers who wanted more than a third person on-rail shooter for $7.99. Since then, the game has gotten a couple of free updates, adding eight more levels and unlockable wallpaper. No doubt Konami is hoping a price cut will boost sales during the price drop and beyond. As PopCap found out with the great $0.99 Peggle experiment of ’09, increased presence on the App Store can mean increased sales even after the price cut ends. Will it work as well at $2.99?

The full press release after the break.

Cheap Street Fighter 4 Out-Cheaps Seth

zang

Gamestop has Street Fighter 4, the greatest fighting game ever made, on sale for the ridiculous amount of $20.

Now there is no excuse for you not to go online and get yourself acquainted with my spinning piledriver, unless of course you’re an El Fuerte player, then stay the @#$% away.

Red Octane Sale Pumps the Plastic

emgh

Got an email from the fine folks over at Red Octane (and they are fine, having personally helped me out on a deal for games and guitars for a Christmas gift for a organization I volunteer with) trumpeting their latest deal.

This one is for the wireless Guitar Hero World Tour guitar and a wired microphone for $50, a $30 savings.  That’s not bad at all, though if you’ve perused your local GameStop or other used video game retailer you’ve no doubt seen a wall of used plastic instruments for cheap. (A sign of the ebbing away of the music game craze?)

Still, these are new and the guitar is one of the best I’ve cradled.  If virtual band playing is still your bag, check it out here.

$10 Games at Best Buy this Week

savg

I’m sure you’re hip to this info, but big-box goliath Best Buy is blowing out a heap of video games that you may or may not be remotely interested in at the super-low price of $10 a pop.

The list is actually surprisingly robust and encompasses all the big systems (sorry Gamecube owners).  CheapAss Gamer, as always, is your friend.

A few highlights that jumped out at me: Too Human (360),  Pure (PS3/360), Devil May Cry 4 (PS3/360) and Ninja Gaiden DS (DS).

Any of you guys score some gaming on the cheap?
